Ching Shao
CEO and Co-Founder, Shanghai
Ms. Shao brings 26 years of experience in the Asian financial markets to SMC China Fund. Ms. Shao started her professional career as a graduate trainee with Barings. She went on to specialize in marketing, structuring, and trading equities, equities derivatives, and index and portfolio products over her 13 years with the firm in London, New York and Tokyo. Ms. Shao then took on the role of Director of ING Barings Financial Products in Hong Kong, where she established various relationships with corporate and government organizations in Asia, structuring and promoting derivatives products. She then spent some time with Commerzbank marketing single stock options and index derivatives to Asian based clients. Ms. Shao holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing and was born and raised in Beijing.

Tony Yam, CFA
CIO and Co-Founder, Shanghai
Mr. Yam brings over 15 years of experience in the Asian financial markets to SMC China Fund. He was trained at Schroder Investment Management in Hong Kong where he ultimately took on the role of Investment Officer. Mr. Yam went on to become Research Director at Sun Hung Kai Securities and then Chief Strategist and Portfolio Manager for Shanghai Orient-Sun International Investment Management Co., a company specializing in the management of pension funds. Mr. Yam holds a B.S. in Finance from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and an MBA from the University of Finance and Economics in Shanghai. He was born in Fujian and raised in Hong Kong.

Teddy Cui
COO, Shanghai
Mr. Cui brings 11 years of research and fund management experience in the Asian financial markets to SMC China Fund. In the position of COO, he currently manages the trading and performance analysis divisions of the Fund. Mr. Cui started his career as an analyst with Shanghai Orient-Sun International Investment Management Co. where he covered China’s agriculture, food and beverage, and household appliances sectors. He went on to serve as a Senior Consultant for Orient China Investment, a financial consulting company based in South Africa, providing feasibility studies for South African investors on their investment strategies in China. Mr. Cui holds a B.S. in Economics from East China Normal University.

Bei Yongfei
Senior Analyst, Shanghai
Mr. Bei joined SMC China Fund in 2009 as a Senior Analyst with 8 years of prior experience in securities research, and project and portfolio investments. He previously worked for Gem Holdings Group Co. Limited, Shanghai, where he served as Head of Research and Portfolio Manager. Mr. Bei holds a Bachelor in Securities & Futures Investment and a Master’s degree in Industrial Economics from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.

Albert Hui
Senior Analyst, Hong Kong
Mr. Hui joined SMC China Fund in 2010 with 11 years of previous work and education experience in the financial markets, both abroad and in China. Mr. Hui previously served as an Associate at Morgan Stanley, Hong Kong and as an Associate Director at the Hong Kong office of UBS. Before joining SMC China Fund, Mr. Hui worked at Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing Limited as Assistant Vice President. Mr. Hui holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

David Liu
Senior Analyst, Shanghai
Mr. Liu joined SMC China Fund in 2006. He has 5 years of research and fund management experience in the China market. Mr. Liu holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Yan Chan
Senior Analyst, Hong Kong
Ms. Chan brings 11 years of research and fund management experience to SMC China Fund. She previously worked for Hutchison Whampoa, Hong Kong, where she acted in the role of Assistant Manager. Previously, she was a principal officer for China joint venture projects at Dah Chong Hong (1828.HK)in Hong Kong and an executive at Kim Eng Capital, Hong Kong. Ms. Chan holds a Master’s degree in Practicing Accounting from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Edward Geng
Analyst, Shanghai
Mr. Geng joined SMC China Fund in 2008 as an analyst with 1 year of prior experience as an intern at the Fund. He holds a Master’s degree in Information Management and Information Systems from Fudan University.

Michael Hou
Analyst, Shanghai
Mr. Hou joined SMC China Fund in 2008 with 1 year of prior experience as an intern at the Fund. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics from Nanjing University.
